Through the Window

Through the Window is another inner landscape abstraction painted in my former Santa Fe studio, painted as if looking through a window. It has a simple, strong, minimal color scheme: just white and yellow. A small, cozy world, most likely inspired by the Santa Fe landscape and Georgia O'Keeffe's abstract landscape watercolors, which I would have seen in both the marvelous O'Keeffe Museum in Santa Fe and in books since 1976. O’Keeffe also painted a landscape seen from the windows of her home and studio. Paintings depicting the view from a window have a long tradition in western painting.
