artist bio

Sherri Silverman is a self-taught artist with over fifty years of meditation practice informing her energy and approach to art. Her explorations of inner being, consciousness, and nature have led to paintings, pastels, and mixed media art that evoke happiness, wonder, serenity, and expansiveness. She has a doctorate in Creativity, Art, & the Sacred / Application of Asian Concepts but her art-making is more spontaneous than intellectual.

Sherri’s artwork is on permanent display in the New Mexico Capitol Art Collection and corporate collections at Fidelity, Verizon, and Enterprise Bank & Trust. Juried and curator-driven exhibitions include Bolinas Museum, MarinMOCA, Sonoma Museum of Visual Art, Boulder Museum of Contemporary Art, Pensacola Art Museum, and TEDxMARIN, with solo shows in Florida, Colorado, and New Mexico. Grants include the Adolph and Esther Gottlieb Emergency Grant and Rauschenberg Artist Medical Emergency Grant. Her work is included in the book 100 Artists of the Southwest. Sherri has been Artist in Residence at the Boulder Museum of Contemporary Art and the Cambridge Oakland Artist Residency Program. She is the recipient of a commendation for artistic excellence from the New Mexico Legislature.

After decades in Santa Fe, since 2016 Sherri has lived and worked in west Marin County, California, near San Francisco.
