Denise Levertov’s “tapping of a buried fountain in the poet from which the music flows” inspired the title of my 1996 dissertation on creativity, art, and consciousness — and the title of this artist blog.

Abstraction is inherent everywhere we look in nature: clouds in the sky, the aurora borealis, foam patterns on the ocean, lichen on rocks, galaxies. These abstract patterns appear in art as well, expressing beauty and wonder, inspired by nature.
