why I love flodesk for newsletters even though I’ve tried others
I’m excited to share with you the best marketing tool and service I’ve ever found that really cost-effective, FLODESK. Today the most powerful thing you can do for any business— art, design, consulting, sales, environment, social action— is to send regular newsletter updates to your collectors, clients, and friends.
If you’re an artist like me, you may be more interested in making art than in doing art marketing, but did you know that having a newsletter list is now essential for your career? Owning a list of people interested in your offerings guarantees you can still have direct contact with them, even if they leave social media or the social media company vanishes. You can have direct contact with them to share your work and develop them as collectors and artworld professionals who help your career.
I’ve sent newsletters to subscribers for about twenty years. I started out writing them in Apple Mail and sending them straight from my computer. In 2008 I got an account with Constant Contact, followed by years with Mailchimp. I switched to Flodesk a few years when it was in Beta because it had one flat-rate price, even when your list grows — plus ways to grow my list with landing pages, pop-ups, and embedded forms, workflow automations to welcome people to my business with bits of knowledge and inspiration, and segmentation (which I’d never used before to have a master list, plus separate lists for the source or type of subscriber), and excellent analytics to learn about opens, clicks, etc.
I loved Flodesk from the start and have learned a ton about how to promote my art career. I had no idea when I first began using it that Flodesk would actually teach me how to improve my marketing and visibility. I loved the results I was getting right from the start! I think you’ll love the professional appearance, increase in business savvy, and the results you get too.
Here’s some of the surprising benefits and improvements I have noticed with my two Flodesk accounts for both my art career and for my conscious home design business:
more opens
more clicks
more sales
more responses from subscribers
more praise
more professional appearance
Flodesk has by far the best templates and layouts, fonts, customizable colors, training articles, email tech support, newsletter analytics, etc., of anything I’ve ever experienced with my newsletters. I’ve even learned and implemented improvements for both of my websites because of what I’ve learned and created writing newsletters in Flodesk.
So there’s more beauty, branding, and elevation in my newsletters and my websites because of Flodesk— another win.
They also have lots of other features you might want, including checkout with payment collected direct from your newsletters. I haven’t used this yet myself but have heard great things from other users who don’t have a shopping cart on their website or have a sudden idea for an offer.
These days everything costs more and more, without any useful improvements. Flodesk is continually updating and expanding what their service can do for us. Flodesk offers affordable, transparent pricing that scales with your active subscriber count.
See exactly how pricing scales with your audience, and get a heads up when you’re approaching your subscriber limit so you have time to plan ahead. No hidden fees, no surprises.
Flodesk will only adjust your tier if it’s needed, so you only pay for what you use.

Flodesk has a large selection of really beautiful fonts! You can even match what you use on your website and business cards. In this particular layout, the “THANK YOU” letters type themselves out in other words, they’re eye-catching as they enter themselves on your viewer’s screen.
This is just one of Flodesk’s always-growing offerings of beautiful templates I’ve used for my Vastu conscious design transcendencedesign.com newsletter.
Here’s the same template used in reverse— super-easy to do— with a different color background. This time I added a clickable button, but both versions have clickable images. The more links, the easier to get readers to content on your website. Then you can see how they responded in your newsletter analytics.
This is another template and color usage I’ve chosen to use for my one of my transcendencedesign.com website newsletters.
I love how easy it is to add my Instagram feed with a customized message, links to all my social media—Bluesky, Facebook, Instagram, Pinterest, and Threads. There are lots more options for social media links too, and it’s easy to set that up. It’s also effortless to add button links with your choice of shapes, colors, and your own personalized content.
DESIGN EMAILS PEOPLE LOVE TO GET! (And great, branded sign-up forms too)
